At Lila with Love, we want you to enjoy the beauty and fragrance of your luxury handcrafted soy wax candles for as long as possible. This guide shares expert tips for burning, storing, and maintaining your candles in the UAE climate, so they last longer and perform at their best.


General Candle Care

  1. Remove dried botanicals a few minutes after lighting — they’re for decoration only.
  2. Trim the wick to ¼ inch (about 6mm) before each use to ensure a clean, even burn and reduce soot.
  3. Let the wax melt all the way to the edges during the first burn to avoid tunnelling and extend your candle’s life.
  4. Burn for 2–4 hours max at a time. This preserves the scent and protects the container from overheating.
  5. Keep away from drafts, fans, and AC vents to avoid uneven burning or flickering.
  6. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  7. Stop using the candle when ½ inch (1 cm) of wax remains at the bottom to avoid heat damage.
  8. Extinguish if the flame smokes, flickers, or grows too high. Let wax cool before re-trimming the wick.

Special Notes for UAE Climate

  • Store your candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or intense heat. High temperatures can soften the wax, affect scent throw, or cause sweating (oily surface).
  • If your candle "sweats" slightly (a natural effect in heat), gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth—it doesn't affect quality.
  • Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface when burning, especially during hotter months.
